A Bit About Me ...

Farming and Gardening

Being with plants is one of my deepest joys.  I love the feeling of deep, rich, healthy soil - teeming with the microorganisms that nourish and nurture vegetables, grains and flowers.  These plants feed me on so many levels, physically, emotionally, spiritually - and I love tending them.  Once I’m in the garden - it’s nearly impossible to get me out!  I am thankful for the plants living - breathing presence that sustains us in so many ways.  As Michael Pollan writes in the Botany of Desire, humanity, and the natural world have a symbiotic relationship.  This symbiosis influences who and what I am and what I bring to the treatments I provide.

I was trained in Core Synchronism by its developer, Robert Stevens, BA, ND, NTS, director of the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics in Albuquerque, NM and have been practicing since 1997.  As a certified and/or licensed massage therapist for the past 22 years, I have touched thousands of people.  I have worked for chiropractors, an award winning Inn, backstage at major pop/rock concerts, established the on-site massage therapy program for the Odwalla Juice Company, was on the healing arts staff at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, and operated a private practice.  My years of experience have taught me that while massage therapy can sometimes access both the physical and energetic realms for healing, Core Synchronism can do this and more - reaching deeper causal imbalances and creating profound and lasting transformation.  My passion is practicing Core Synchronism, hence my focus has shifted to reflect this.

My healing arts background includes massage school and continuing education at Alive and Well! Institute of Conscious Bodywork, energy healing as taught by the Berkeley Psychic Institute, Alchemical Healing with Nicki Scully of Shamanic Journeys, Holotropic Breathwork with Laurie Weaver, Rae Method of Subtle Body Analysis with Dr. Robert Stevens, and Colon Therapy with Dr. Robert Stevens and his wife, Debra Stevens.  I have learned the art of using Flower Essences and Essential Oils through workshops, self-study and 22 years of practice.  I understand that receiving healing treatments is as important as giving them, thus I am continually deepening my practice of Core Synchronism through receiving treatments myself; deepening my connection to self and Source.

The backstory goes like this ... I began massaging people at a very young age: my parents ran a summer camp, and at lunch time, rather than eating, I would make the rounds of the staff table massaging shoulders, backs, necks and arms.  When I was old enough to become a camper and live in the bunkhouse, I would give back rubs to the other campers during “rest hour” and in high school my friends would often ask me for back rubs.  It was just what I did.  I learned psychic healing and shamanic techniques in my early and mid twenties, and then things shifted into career mode when I received an opportunity to do massage backstage during Grateful Dead concerts.  I had always been drawn to plants and herbs and had thought I would study and become an herbalist, but ... although I had never taken any massage classes, during these gigs so many people asked me for my business card, and wanted to make appointments with me, that I enrolled in massage school and the rest is history!  I’ve been fortunate that many people have always liked my treatments, and I’ve been blessed with wonderful opportunities to practice my craft.  I love sharing the work I do and facilitating the process of people becoming more deeply connected with their true selves.  Infinite Love and Gratitude for LIFE and LOVE!

I have been active in athletics all my life.  Since before I could walk my parents had me on horses, and soon after that I learned to ski, to swim, to play tennis, archery, ping pong, gymnastics, softball, volleyball, badminton.  In high school I was on the swim, soccer, cross-country, and track teams.  As my adult years have progressed I have enjoyed swimming, yoga, hiking and running.  As a runner, my knees have taken a beating.  I used to have to ice them after every run (5-10 mile runs).  No longer!  Thanks to the same tools I offer others; Core Synchronism, cellular nutrition, therapeutic grade essential oils and flower essences, icing is no longer necessary.  The physicality of regularly moving my body and breathe adds to the fluidity of my healing arts practice.
